Embedded Software Engineer, Platform Security (Remote)


At Foundries.io we have created an open source software platform using the latest industry practices and standards throughout, so product developers can build on a common software base. Our aim is for cross-industry adoption, with no lock-in. To accomplish this we use industry standards and a new business model to disrupt the status quo of the fragmented IoT device market.

We’re looking for an embedded engineer to lead our platform security development. In this role you’ll be responsible for helping us develop and integrate state of the art security solutions into our Linux microPlatform. The ideal candidate is one who has proven experience with security on embedded/IoT Linux platforms, knows how to work with the Open Source community, and can work in an environment with high levels of autonomy. Key Objectives

  • Lead embedded platform security development at Foundries.io
  • Design, develop, and maintain security elements in Trusted Firmware-A, OP-TEE, U-Boot, UEFI and Linux
  • Evaluation, selection, and integration of hardware security elements and technologies
  • Firmware, device driver, board, and kernel feature enablement
  • Open Source Software maintenance and upstreaming

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in relevant technical field
  • Proven record in design and development of security in embedded systems
  • Knowledge of security and cryptography techniques and fundamentals
  • Experience incorporating hardware-based security techniques (Hardware Security modules, TrustZone, TPM, Secure Boot, etc) into a robust hardware/software system design.
  • Strong interest in SW and HW security, knowledgeable of state of the art with previous experience working on security related features
  • Experience working with Yocto, OpenEmbedded, Docker and TUF a plus
  • Be able to work effectively remotely with an international team


  • Start-up or scale-up experience and be self-sufficient and strongly motivated
  • Thrive in a fast-moving work environment where you will mostly interact with your colleagues remotely
  • Occasional global travel will be required (post COVID19) to attend company and industry events
  • Position is fully remote, US/Europe time zone preferred
